Back to Work

No fancy photos in this post, I’m afraid… I’m just happy we survived the week!

Ok, so maybe it wasn’t *that* bad.  But it was pretty rough in spots.  I had some down days and here at the end of the week, I’ve got two kids complaining of sore throats, so it doesn’t look as if we’ve escaped Round Two of Everybody in the World Is Sick after all.  (We already did the stomach virus that was going around, and now it looks like we’ve picked up the cold/flu.)

Jen posted this week about “Freshening”, and I can’t say that I can ever make the kind of progress she can even though we’re both at about the same point in our pregnancies (I am a little ahead of her, though — 28 weeks now!), but it was a good read on a day I needed it.  Sometimes my “freshening” looks like taking care of the bare minimum in spite of the fact that what I want to be doing is pulling the covers back over my head while my children throw Lego bombs at each other upstairs, but I have to admit that usually getting up and doing something makes me feel better than just sitting there and thinking about how I feel rotten and the laundry is spilling into the kitchen.

Anyway, a bright spot — I made a decent gluten-free pizza!  It even tasted like… pizza.  Real pizza, I mean, not gluten-free pizza. And it didn’t stick to the pan.  The kids were impressed.  I was impressed.  It was the victory of the week.  I am thinking of sending Jeanne Sauvage fan mail.

Otherwise, we just aimed for the basics: food, laundry, math, reading, Latin.  I doubt that next week will be much different.
